It is surprising how little imagination the average homebuyers have in this and other areas of decor—they instantly know what they don’t like when they see it, but are less sure about how they would have done it themselves. The reason for this is that such guarantees are usually lengthy (20 years or more) and the property could be sold and resold several times during the guarantee period. So you should make sure when employing damp- proofing contractors that their guarantees are transferable.
You should offer guarantees to your buyer on anything which you bought or installed that carries a manufacturer’s guarantee. This may involve you in a little time but should cost you nothing more than the occasional phone call or letter.
